Impromptu Photoshoots are the best! . We set out in the early morning still in our robs. We were dressed in so many layers it was hard to move. We had to attempt our daily chores at Cold Creek Natural Farm, the air was so cold our breath looks as if it froze on contact. We are 1st time homesteaders learning as we go and making the best of things has become our superpower! Checked on the chickens, gathered eggs, checked the garden and then to locate our cows and Fruit loop our Donkey. Found them, all bedded down in the woods. Then off to make sure we break the ice in their water trough, seems crazy but this was the 4th time in two days. We live in East Texas and “Texas” is not used to 12* temps and everything iced over and freezing cold.

As we were walking back down our driveway toward the house we started slipping. Our daughter who’s always creating fun things to keep herself occupied with had a great idea. She wanted to see if she could slide down on her bottom... Didn’t work! Then she remembered we had an old boogie board and that worked perfect! Then we rushed inside for some warm apple cider!

As I said in the beginning, Impromptu Photoshoots are the best! No posing, no fussing over the perfect outfit or location! Just raw unfiltered fun and genuine smiles!
