Kids outgrow their clothes faster than you think they would. However that doesn't stop us parents to buy clothes for them, in fact I would say my daughters wardrobe is much more elaborate than mine. And if you are a little craftsy, it's it a cool idea to up-cycle some Thrift Store finds to make your girls some wonderful dresses??
There's so much talk about going green, recycling, or DIYing anything, and this is probably the most neglected of all the recycling habits. Re purposing clothes doesn't have to be hard! It's actually a fun project to do together. She chose this polka dot knee length sz 12 ladies cocktail dress at my favorite 2nd hand store "Le'Goodwill" for $9 and the ladies sz 10 petticoat for $12. A couple hours spent together cutting and sewing (on mom's part) while she handed me pins and cut material scrap pieces. Abracadabra... She had a full length spiny skirt, fit for any princess to wear or play dress up in.
Don't be afraid to experiment with different clothing items, men's shirts make super cute play dresses. T-shirts can make toddler rompers. If you know how to sew, this post is going to get your creative brain ticking, this was a fun to do together project with adorable final results. Bonus, it was Christmas time and everything was decorated so beautifully at the Boardwalk. It all just came together so well and she was super excited to get to wear her dress that she made. I think it shows just how proud she was and it doesn't hurt that she absolutely beautiful but that's just the mommy momtog talking.
